What Makes Movies Great (Picture)Out there in the HUGE world of media, there are PLENTY of GREAT movies. Such as: Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, Zootopia, The Fault In Our Stars, and so many more! People argue over what makes these movies so popular. There are plenty of good reasons. But I have THREE main aspects of what makes a movie so entertaining.

  • Aspect #1) Plot

The plot is a very important factor to what makes a movie great. The plot must bePlot Diagram #1 consistent, engaging, interesting, and meaningful. However, the plot shouldn’t be off track, out-of-place, random, and/or scattered around. Some examples of movies with a good plot are: Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and Harry Potter. These movies have consistent plus entertaining plots that also mean something to people.

  • Aspect #2) Characters

Another good aspect of what makes a movie great are the characters. Characters are an extremely important factor in many things, such as: movies, scripts, books, literature, et cetera. The characters should be unique, they should have flaws (flawless characters are terrible to have), interesting, should change over time (some characters don’t change, but they’re still good), and more. But the characters should not be flawless nor perfect. Characters that are perfect are commonly called “Mary-Sues.” Mary-Sue characters are terrible to have. One example of a good character, in my opinion, is Darth Vader (also known as Anakin Skywalker) from Star Wars. Why? Because he changes and he has flaws.

  • Aspect #3) Animations & Effects

Last but not least, another important aspect are the animations and/or effects. Animations/Effects can be complicated to create and use. Especially if you’re new to movie-making and animation. The animations should be professional in the movie. The sound effects should be well-timed and well-placed. Not many think that this is very important, but they can be extremely helpful when keeping the audience interested. Some of the Star Wars movies have VERY good animations/effects.

Those are the THREE specific aspects that I believe make a movie great. Of course, this doesn’t mean that these are the ONLY aspects of a good movie. Film-MakingEVERYBODY has their OWN opinions. Either way, I REALLY hope that I have shown you some good points. I would ❤ to hear your opinions on what makes a movie great. Please comment your opinion down below!
